Governor Shri Ramen Deka inaugurates new auditorium at Chhattisgarh Assembly

CM Shri Sai says Assembly reflects democratic values and commitment to public welfare

Governor Shri Ramen Deka on Wednesday inaugurated the newly built auditorium in the Chhattisgarh Assembly complex during the Excellence Awards ceremony, where leaders highlighted the state’s parliamentary traditions and democratic values.
The Governor Shri Deka said the Chhattisgarh Assembly is regarded among the country’s finest legislative institutions, citing the coordination and mutual respect between the treasury and opposition benches. He urged public representatives to work with dedication and accountability, and called for collective efforts towards the state’s development, civic engagement and social welfare.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said the Assembly serves as a strong platform for fulfilling the state’s development and public welfare goals, while Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh described it as a model institution known for healthy parliamentary practices.

At the ceremony, Bilha MLA Shri Dharmalal Kaushik and Akaltara MLA Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh received the Outstanding Legislator Award. Shri Santram Sahu of Dainik Patrika was honoured with the Outstanding Parliamentary Journalist Award, while Shri Saurabh Singh Parihar and Dr Rajesh Raj of IBC24 received the Outstanding Electronic Media Reporter Award.
Shri Sai said the Chhattisgarh Assembly is the first and only Assembly in the country where an MLA entering the well of the House is automatically suspended, calling it a symbol of self-discipline and parliamentary decorum. He also underscored the role of parliamentary journalists in strengthening democracy through fair and factual reporting. Praising the award-winning legislators, he said Shri Dharmalal Kaushik’s long legislative experience and Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh’s well-researched interventions as a first-time MLA reflected exemplary parliamentary conduct.

Dr Raman Singh said the inauguration of the auditorium marked another milestone after the opening of the new Assembly building by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on November 1, 2025. He said the sixth Assembly would be remembered for preserving parliamentary traditions and fostering constructive debate despite political differences.
The cultural programme featured noted spiritual singer Shri Anup Jalota. Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Leader of Opposition Shri Charandas Mahant, Assembly Secretary Shri Dinesh Sharma, legislators, senior officials, journalists and other dignitaries.
