Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai releases 28th installment of Mahtari Vandan Yojana

Rs 642.27 crore transferred to the accounts of 68.54 lakh women

New support for the dignity, self-reliance and economic empowerment of women

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday released the 28th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana at a state-level programme held in Bilaspur, transferring more than Rs 642.27 crore amount to the bank accounts of 68.54 lakh women across the state. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the dignity, empowerment and self-reliance of women are among the state government’s highest priorities, and that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has emerged as a historic and transformative initiative in this direction.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is strengthening women’s economic security, self-confidence and decision-making abilities, contributing to their empowerment and bringing positive change to their lives.

It is noteworthy that under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, launched on March 1, 2024, eligible married women are being provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month. Women are using the assistance for household needs, children’s education, healthcare, nutrition and small self-employment activities. This has strengthened family finances and increased women’s participation in society.

With the release of the 28th installment in June 2026, a total of Rs 18 thousand 165 crore 19 lakh has been provided to women under the scheme so far. The assistance is playing a significant role in ensuring economic stability and social security for women.

Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the last person in society. In line with this vision, 7,770 new women have been enrolled under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana through the Niyad Nellanar campaign being implemented in Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker and Narayanpur districts. This has enabled women in remote and sensitive areas to benefit from financial assistance and social security.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that women’s participation is vital for building a developed Chhattisgarh and that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is strengthening women’s empowerment while improving the economic stability of millions of families across the state.
