Raipur, September 6, 2026/ Amid the festive spirit of Teeja Tihar, Bahatarai Stadium in Bilaspur today came alive with the colours of Chhattisgarhi culture and tradition, as Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai joined women celebrating the festival and extended his greetings. He prayed to Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of women across Chhattisgarh.
Addressing the grand Teeja Milan ceremony at Bahatarai Stadium today, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Teeja is a sacred festival rooted in Chhattisgarh’s rich folk culture. It embodies the love and faith of women, along with their prayers for the well-being of their families. The festival holds a special place in the State’s cultural traditions, including the long-standing practice of married daughters returning to their maternal homes to celebrate with their families. Such festivals keep traditions alive while strengthening bonds of affection within families and society.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade, MLAs Shri Amar Agrawal, Shri Dharamlal Kaushik, Shri Sushant Shukla and Smt. Bhavana Bohra, along with other public representatives and a large number of women, attended the ceremony.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that Nari Shakti has always been accorded the highest place of honour in Sanatan culture. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, several significant steps have been taken across the country to ensure women’s dignity, safety and empowerment. The construction of toilets in households has ensured dignity and convenience for women, while ration cards issued in their names have strengthened their social standing. In Chhattisgarh, more than 68 lakh women are receiving regular financial assistance under Mahtari Vandan Yojana. As many as 31 installments have been disbursed under the scheme so far. This financial aid is helping women independently meet their needs while further strengthening their role within their families.
He said that women are also embracing modern technology to expand their opportunities. Drone Didis are using technology for self-employment and earning between ₹6,000 and ₹7,000 a day. Women are also becoming self-reliant through businesses such as centring plate enterprises and by operating e-rickshaws. From Bastar to Bilaspur, women are writing new stories of achievement through hard work, skills and confidence.
The State Government is also providing special encouragement to connect women with entrepreneurship and industries. The objective is to ensure that every woman gets an opportunity to advance according to her abilities and skills, thereby contribute to the prosperity of her family and the State.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the State has resolved to build a developed Chhattisgarh alongside a developed India by 2047. Women will have a crucial role in achieving this goal. When women are educated, safe, healthy, economically empowered and self-reliant, families become stronger and the State progresses faster, he said.
Chorhadeori to Be Renamed ‘Ramdeori’; ₹30 Lakh Announced for Beltara Mahotsav
Chief Minister Shri Sai announced important initiatives for the region during the programme. He announced that Chorhadeori village in Bilha development block would be renamed as Ramdeori. He also announced a grant of ₹30 lakh for the Beltara Festival, organised on the occasion of Maghi Purnima. The announcements were warmly welcomed by the gathering.
Teeja Preserves Cultural Heritage and Social Bonds: Deputy CM Shri Sao
Appreciating the Teeja Milan ceremony organised by the Kamal Sakhi Parivar, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that such events preserve cultural traditions while strengthening social warmth and community bonds.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade said that the State Government is continuously working to ensure security, dignity and development of women. Festivals such as Teeja carry forward the message of preserving culture and social unity across generations.
Beltara MLA Shri Sushant Shukla also addressed the program saying that such celebrations provide an effective platform for taking folk traditions to the younger generation.
Joy and Festivities, Mehendi and Traditional Activities mark Teeja Celebration at Bahatarai Stadium
A large number of women attended the Teeja Milan Samaroh in traditional attire. Arrangements were made for attractive swings (Jhula), mehendi and various recreational activities. Special food and gifts added to the festive spirit, while children also participated enthusiastically in the activities. With songs, music and a lively festive atmosphere, Bahatarai Stadium remained immersed in the joy of Teeja throughout the celebration.
Chairman of Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation Shri Raja Pandey, Mayor Smt. Pooja Vidhani, District Panchayat President Shri Rajesh Suryavanshi, Divisional Commissioner Shri Sunil Jain, Collector Shri Sanjay Agrawal, SSP Shri Rajnesh Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Prakash Kumar Sarvey and District Panchayat CEO Shri Sandeep Agrawal were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
