Mahtari Vandan Yojana Is a Campaign for Dignity, Self-Reliance and Prosperity of Families: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai released the 30th instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana from the Chief Minister’s Residence Office on August 7, transferring Rs. 630.55 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the bank accounts of 67.20 lakh eligible women across Chhattisgarh. With this instalment, more than Rs. 19,444.33 crore has been disbursed under the scheme since its launch on March 1, 2024.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has become a major initiative for women’s economic empowerment, dignity and self-reliance. Beyond the monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000, the scheme is strengthening women’s confidence and decision-making while supporting education, healthcare, nutrition and livelihoods. Beneficiaries are also investing in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for their daughters and undertaking livelihood activities such as tailoring, dairy farming, small businesses and animal husbandry to supplement family income.
Emphasising transparent welfare delivery, the Chief Minister said good governance means ensuring that benefits reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely manner. Direct transfer of the monthly assistance into women’s bank accounts through DBT has eliminated intermediaries and strengthened transparency.
He said the State Government is working for the holistic development of women through education, healthcare, nutrition, skill development, self-employment and financial inclusion. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has strengthened women’s economic security, participation in household decisions and social dignity, becoming an important foundation for inclusive development.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Principal Secretary Smt. Shahla Nigar and Director Dr Renuka Shrivastava were present on the occasion.
