Chhattisgarh Government Extends Immediate Support to Families of Kulgam Terror Attack Victims on Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s Directions
State Government to Provide Rs. 20 Lakh Ex-Gratia Assistance to the Families of Each Deceased Worker
Raipur, August 1, 2026/
Following the death of two migrant workers from Chhattisgarh in the terrorist attack in Kulgam, South Kashmir, the Chhattisgarh Government has taken immediate steps to assist the bereaved families following the directions from Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
The Chief Minister announced that the State Government will provide Rs. 20 lakh as ex-gratia assistance to the family of each deceased worker. He clarified that this financial assistance will be in addition to the relief being provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Acting on the Chief Minister’s directions, two senior officers from Chhattisgarh were immediately deputed to Jammu and Kashmir. They have reached the site and are coordinating with the affected families while making all necessary arrangements. Shri Sai directed that every possible assistance be extended to the bereaved families and that they should not face any inconvenience during this difficult time.
The officials deputed to Jammu and Kashmir have coordinated with the local administration and reviewed the relief and assistance measures being provided. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has already extended Rs. 2 lakh as interim assistance to each of the two affected families, while an additional Rs. 14 lakh for each family will be provided shortly.
The Chief Minister has directed the officers to remain with the families and ensure all necessary arrangements until they safely return to their home districts.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that in this hour of grief, the Chhattisgarh Government stands firmly with both bereaved families with complete sensitivity and commitment and will provide every possible assistance.
