Quality healthcare must reach remote tribal regions: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai
Raipur, May 17, 2026/ A major healthcare facility is set to come up in the remote tribal belt of Dharamjaigarh block in Raigarh district, where a 100-bed multi-speciality hospital will be established at Gawarghutori village to provide free medical services to economically weaker and tribal communities. The initiative has been taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai as part of the state government’s efforts to expand healthcare access in remote forest regions.
According to an order issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, two hectares of land in Gawarghutori village of Dharamjaigarh tehsil have been allotted to the Azim Premji Foundation on a 30-year temporary lease for construction of the hospital.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai handed over the land allotment order to the Azim Premji Foundation during his visit to Raigarh district under the ongoing Sushasan Tihar programme on Saturday post review meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sai said the government’s objective is to ensure development and essential services reach the last person, particularly in remote tribal regions where access to quality healthcare remains limited.
The proposed facility is expected to serve thousands of villagers living in Dharamjaigarh and adjoining forest areas, many of whom currently travel to Raigarh, Bilaspur and other cities for specialized treatment and emergency care. Once operational, the facility will provide general medical care, maternal and child health services, emergency treatment, diagnostic facilities and other modern healthcare services at the local level.
Under conditions laid down by the state government, the allotted land can be used only for hospital and healthcare-related activities. Compliance with environmental protection laws and other statutory regulations will also be mandatory.
Residents of the tribal region have welcomed the decision, describing it as a major step towards improving healthcare access in the area. Many believe the project will not only strengthen medical services but also create employment opportunities and support local development.
Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary, MP Shri Radheshyam Rathiya, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Devendra Pratap Singh and other public representatives were present during the programme.
