CM Shri Sai reviews Kharif 2026 preparedness, says state ready to tackle deficient rainfall

Raipur, July 3, 2026/ In a high-level review meeting held at chief minister’s residential office on Friday, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai assessed the state’s preparedness for the Kharif 2026 season and possible deficient rainfall, besides reviewing the implementation of the Viksit Bharat–VB-G RAM G Yojana. The meeting focused on weather preparedness, availability of fertilisers and seeds, water conservation, irrigation management, scientific farming and rural employment.
Stressing that farmers’ welfare remains the government’s top priority, Shri Sai directed all departments to prepare district-specific action plans and ensure there is no shortage of fertilisers, seeds, technical guidance or other essential resources under any circumstances.
Following a request to Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Chhattisgarh received more than 46,000 tonnes of DAP, higher than the normal allocation, ensuring timely availability of fertiliser for the farmers in the Kharif season.

He also directed officials to ensure adequate irrigation for paddy, particularly in rain-fed areas, and intensify awareness on short- and medium-duration paddy varieties, Direct Seeded Rice (DSR), line sowing, seed treatment, moisture conservation and other scientific farming practices. Special campaigns will also be launched to expand the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds in upland areas to improve farm incomes and reduce crop risks.
Chief Minister appealed farmers to seek technical guidance from agricultural colleges, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, research institutions and Agriculture Department experts, while directing strict action against the sale of substandard seeds and fertilisers and black marketing.
Officials informed in the meeting that adequate stocks of fertilisers and seeds are available across the state and arrangements have been made to ensure timely supply to all districts, including ‘early paddy seed’ varieties through the Seed Corporation.
Shri Sai also directed officials to strengthen the ‘Mor Gaon Mor Pani’ campaign through public participation by prioritising rainwater harvesting, farm ponds, groundwater recharge and other water conservation works. He further called for wider dissemination of the ‘Sachet’, ‘Damini’ and ‘Meghdoot’ mobile applications developed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to help farmers receive timely weather and lightning alerts.
VB-G RAM G Yojana to strengthen water security and rural economy
Reviewing the implementation of the VB-G RAM G Yojana, Shri Sai said the scheme, which came into effect on July 1, 2026, will strengthen both water security and the rural economy by prioritising water conservation and natural resource management. Under the scheme, rural families will now receive 125 days of employment instead of 100, with wages fixed at Rs 300 per day. He directed officials to prioritise works that generate sustained rural employment while creating durable assets such as water conservation structures to enhance long-term resilience against erratic rainfall.
Chief Minister said every effort towards water conservation would help secure the future of coming generations and reiterated the government’s commitment is to protect farmers’ interests through time-bound action.
Shri Sai also directed that advisories and regular bulletins issued by Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya be widely disseminated through awareness campaigns, social media and traditional media so that scientific farming practices reach farmers at the grassroots level.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, Revenue and Disaster Management, Secretary Smt. Shammi Abidi, Agriculture Department’s Director Shri Rahul Dev, Viksit Bharat–VB-G RAM G Yojana’s Commissioner, Shri Taran Prakash Sinha, India Meteorological Department expert Smt.
