A Bond of Affection Rooted in Respect for Sacrifice: Madhuri Ties Rakhi to ‘Vishnu Bhaiya’

Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, a deeply emotional moment reflecting sibling affection and respect for martyrdom unfolded at the ‘Sneh Ki Dor’ programme held at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur on August 25. Smt. Madhuri Verma, wife of Sub-Inspector Shri Yugal Kishore Verma, who attained martyrdom in a Naxal encounter, tied a Rakhi to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, leaving him visibly emotional.

“I do not have a sister of my own. We are all brothers. Today, Madhuri Ji tied rakhi. I feel that I have received affection from a sister even dearer than one by birth,” Chief Minister Shri Sai said.

The heartfelt exchange gave the traditional Rakhi ceremony a deeper meaning. For Smt. Madhuri Verma, who lost her husband in the service of the motherland and the security of Chhattisgarh, it became a bond of affection and assurance. For the Chief Minister, the Rakhi symbolised not only brotherly affection but also a deeper responsibility towards the family of a martyr.

Chief Minister Shri Sai assured Smt. Madhuri Verma that the family of martyr Shri Yugal Kishore Verma is like his own. He said the families of martyrs are never alone and that safeguarding their dignity, well-being and future is not merely the responsibility of the government but a collective duty. He added that after Madhuri Ji tied Rakhi to him, his responsibility towards her family had become even deeper as a brother.

Paying tribute to martyr Sub-Inspector Shri Yugal Kishore Verma, the Chief Minister said Chhattisgarh would always remain indebted to its brave security personnel and their families. He said security personnel made the supreme sacrifice so that future generations of Chhattisgarh could live in safety and peace.
