Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Announces Rs. 30 Lakh Incentive and Out-of-Turn Promotion to DSP Rank

Commonwealth Games 2026 silver medallist Gyaneshwari Yadav created history by winning the silver medal in the women’s 53 kg weightlifting event in Glasgow. She was accorded a grand welcome and felicitated at the Chief Minister’s residence on August 3. Congratulating the Rajnandgaon-born athlete on her remarkable achievement, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced an incentive of Rs. 30 lakh and her out-of-turn promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), describing the honour as a recognition of her exceptional talent, dedication, and perseverance.
The Chief Minister said that by winning a silver medal in her maiden Commonwealth Games and lifting a combined 199 kilograms in the women’s 53 kg category, Gyaneshwari had brought immense pride to both India and Chhattisgarh. He described her achievement as a landmark moment in the state’s sporting history.
Recalling his interaction with the athlete before she departed for Glasgow, Shri Sai said he had wished her success and later congratulated her through a video call after her medal-winning performance. Welcoming her at his official residence, he said the occasion was a moment of pride and celebration for the entire state.
Praising Gyaneshwari’s journey, the Chief Minister said that despite limited resources and several challenges, she never allowed her determination to waver. Through discipline, consistent training, and relentless hard work, she achieved success on the international stage. He said her accomplishment would inspire the youth of Chhattisgarh, especially young girls, to pursue their dreams with confidence and dedication.
Announcing her out-of-turn promotion to the rank of DSP, Shri Sai said the decision reflects the State Government’s commitment to recognising outstanding sporting achievements and encouraging athletes to strive for excellence.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to sports development, the Chief Minister said the State Government is strengthening sports infrastructure, providing world-class training facilities, quality coaching, essential resources, and all possible support to nurture sporting talent. He said the objective is to create an ecosystem in which every talented athlete from Chhattisgarh can realise their full potential and excel at the national and international levels.
He added that identifying talent, providing opportunities, and honouring outstanding achievements are central to the State Government’s sports policy. Expressing confidence in the state’s sporting future, Shri Sai said these efforts would help establish Chhattisgarh among the country’s leading sporting states and enable more athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and other international competitions, bringing greater glory to both the nation and the state.
