Girl empowerment campaign 2022 organized in Korba NTPC auditorium was inaugurated by Mr. Nutan Kanwar, CEO of Korba district panchayat on Wednesday.

Korba, 19 May 2022: NTPC Korba today inaugurated the month long Girl Empowerment Mission to empower the girl child and hone their talent. The program was organized at NTPC auditorium and was inaugurated by Mr. Nutan Kanwar, CEO, Korba district panchayat. District Education Officer of Korba district Shri GP Bhardwaj along with Chief General Manager from NTPC Korba Shri PM Jena, Smt. Rajshree Jena (President, Maitri Mahila Samiti) and members of Hero Mind Mine Pvt Ltd also graced the program with their presence.

After the welcome address, Shri Nutan Kanwar ji and other senior guests started the program by lighting the lamp.

Thereafter, Shri PM Jena, Chief General Manager, NTPC Korba gave a brief introduction to the girl child empowerment campaign and said that “Under the girl empowerment campaign, NTPC is organizing this month-long program for the girl child, in which along with basic educational topics, creative aspects and soft skills like drawing and painting, singing, dancing, acting, yoga and self-defense etc. will be taught. After this one-month long training, they will also be evaluated at the end. Through the girl empowerment campaign, we aim to teach and empower the girls”.

In the program, Chief Guest Mr. Nutan Kanwar while addressing the girl child said that “The Girl Child Empowerment Campaign of NTPC is a notable initiative and aims at nurturing the talent of the girl child. As I am familiar with overcoming obstacles and hurdles in life and step into success, I wish these little girls, the best.”

NTPC Korba is making continuous efforts in empowering the girl child as well as aiming to make them aware about subjects like basic education, yoga, arts, health, skills, self-defense, fine arts, under the one-month long girl empowerment campaign. Through this initiative , NTPC has attempted to dispel the orthodox concepts especially in rural areas and spread awareness about problems like female feticide. Along with the empowerment of the girl child, this campaign also works to enhance their talent. Under this campaign, children get a chance to showcase their talent and potential.

Golden opportunity to nurture talent: NTPC Korba has enrolled 120 girls from nearby and rural areas. These girls will be given training not only in academic field but also in yoga, self defense, fine arts. This will develop creative thinking and team spirit in the girl child. NTPC This training will run from 18 May to 16 June 2022.

Plans to scale up this initiative at 35 project locations: As part of its efforts to uplift the girl child of the villages peripherin the project, the company plans to scale up this initiative at around 35 project locations this year.

NTPC launched the campaign in 2018: NTPC had launched the girl empowerment campaign in 2018. Since then, the company has been contributing significantly in empowering the girl child from the communities around its project locations.
